Carboxymethyl starch is usually a white or slightly yellowish powder or fine granules, odorless and tasteless, with a relatively high bulk density. It is readily soluble in cold and hot water, forming a colorless and transparent gel-like liquid, and insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether and acetone. The water solubility is better when the degree of substitution is greater than 0.2.

Product Usage
Sodium Carboxymethyl Starch (CMS-Na) is a high-performance anionic starch ether, often hailed as "industrial monosodium glutamate" for its exceptional thickening, suspending, and binding properties. In the pharmaceutical industry, it serves as a super-disintegrant for tablets and capsules, ensuring rapid drug release. Within the food industry, it acts as a thickener and stabilizer to improve the texture and shelf life of dairy products, beverages, and sauces. Furthermore, CMS plays a critical role in oil drilling as a fluid loss additive, effectively controlling water loss in mud systems. It is also highly valued in the paper, textile, and construction sectors as a sizing agent, printing paste, and water-retention agent for wall putty, making it an ideal choice for enhancing process efficiency.
