Acrylic acid is an organic compound and the simplest unsaturated fatty acid, with the chemical formula C3H4O2. At room temperature and atmospheric pressure, it is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor; it is readily soluble (miscible) in water, ethanol, and diethyl ether. Due to the presence of an unsaturated bond in its structure, it is chemically reactive: it polymerizes easily in air and can undergo reduction reactions with hydrogen, esterification reactions with alcohols, and addition reactions with hydrogen halides.
Chemical Properties
Product Usage
Chemical Raw Materials: Primarily used to produce acrylates (such as methyl and ethyl esters) and polymers; serves as a key base material for plastics and adhesives.
